There are so many better shooters to play than this one.
The aiming and shooting in Special Forces isn't bad, as we didn't notice too many problems with collision detection. However, the melee moves are rather bland, compared to what they could've been. It's here that the building of character might've been important, so bearded guy could have his own special way of finishing off someone with a knife. Not happening, though.
Special Forces is an online only action game, meaning you can't even get some practice in with certain missions. That's okay, I guess, as some games have followed this structure before. However, the game has several online problems that are hard to overlook. Lag sets in on occasion, depending who's joining in during the match; and the constant disconnections can get tiring real quick.
That's a shame, because the rest of the components aren't bad. You can actually change rules settings before the course of each match through random selection with other users; and the leveling system is decent, even giving you the option to acquire attack dogs that you can throw out at will, instead of grenades.
