Is this sequel a return to the fun of the Skylands or a giant dissapointment? Find out in our review!

The gameplay in Skylanders: Giants is basic and straight to the point, and that is what makes it fun. The control scheme in Skylanders Giants is simple and the enemies in the game range from push over, to slightly challenging. When the game does up the difficulty, it is normally just by placing more enemies on screen, which cause the game to become frustrating at times. Each level is graded on a three star scale based on the amount of secret areas found, treasures discovered, and other criteria that demand a replay to master. Players will also want to replay areas once they acquire new Skylanders that represent different elements. Activitison designed the game this way to encourage and almost require the purchase of other figures in order to reach other levels in the game. The game is so fun however, that I have no problem investing in the entertainment value of this game. The game also includes different challenges, in game puzzles, and a card game called Sky Stones that offer a refreshing moment of diversity within gameplay. When you throw all this in with the ability to change your character at anytime by placing them on the Portal of Power you have a very fun and interactive experience.

Cynder represents the Undead element.

As a gamer, you will be hard pressed to find a more interactive experience than Skylanders: Giants. From gameplay to puzzles to the games within the games, Skylanders: Giants is worth the purchase. While some people may be turned off by the idea that you must purchase more figures in order to unlock areas in the game, it is not necessary to complete the main story, however it does enhance the experience. Throw in the fact that you can buy battle packs such as cannons and that each character comes with a card and a code that allows access to both the online and mobile versions of the game shows that Activision has created a truly interactive gaming experience that no one should miss.

Tree Rex will quickly become one of your favorite Giants.

Score: 8 / 10
