The survival horror aspect may have dwindled a bit, but Isaac Clarke and his new partner still put on quite a show.
Dead Space 3's graphics are outstanding, with plenty of spooky environments to work through (the snow is a little reminiscent of Lost Planet 3, but sticks out in its own sort of way) and cool animations, especially when you're blasting a Necromorph to pieces, then finishing it off with a well-placed bloody stomp. Visceral still has the touch when it comes to design. The sound is just about right too, with excellent voice acting and great ambient music to keep you involved.
While Dead Space 3 has strayed a bit from what made it so spectacular the first time around, there's no question it's still a very engaging sequel that fans and action gamers will truly love. The co-op experience is better than most games deliver these days; the action has its thrill ride moments, even if it lulls in the middle and botches the cover mechanic; and the design is amongst Visceral's best. This is a sequel well worth owning.
