The International 3D Society used the Consumer Electronics Show to announce the recipients of the 3D Technology Awards.
Prior to its presentation at the CES 2013 in Las Vegas, the International 3D Society announced the companies that will be honored for achievement in 3D technology. Entries were reviewed for innovation and impact by the Society's 3D Technology Awards Committee for their achievement during 2012.
“The Awards Committee focuses on technologies that represent genuine advances in 3D and that have a demonstrated impact on the 3D professional or consumer,” said Jim Mainard, Chairman of the Society's 3D Technology Awards Committee and Head of Digital Strategy at DreamWorks Animation.
“As our industry gathers at the Consumer Electronics Show to see the future of technology, the Society recognizes the people and organizations who are inventing 3D’s future,” said Jim Chabin, President of the Society. “3D movies again scored 5 of the top 10 highest grossing hits of this past year, including: ‘The Hobbit,’ ‘The Avengers,’ ‘The Amazing Spiderman,’ ‘Brave,’ and ‘Madagascar.’ 3D Blu-rays are being seen by millions of consumers on their new 3D flat screens. The companies receiving our Lumiere™ statuettes have helped to create much of this magic for fans in theatres and at home.”
Receiving honors at this year's awards luncheon in Hollywood will be:
