Is Inversion the update shooters have been waiting for? Find out in our review!

An alien race emerges from the depths of the planet and rises to defeat and enslave humanity. In this apocalyptic world humanity’s only hope are two friends who embark on a mission to defeat the mutated and heavily armed creatures from the deep. Sound familiar? I hate to disappoint but this isn’t a review for the newest entry into the Gears of War franchise, but the description of the setting and plot for Inversion. How does Inversion measure up to the game it so clearly borrows from? Find out in our review!

Use gravity to your advantage during combat.

Presentation in Inversion is not its strong suit. The graphics appear to be from the original Xbox 360 era. The colors are flat and slightly muted and most of the locales look the same. The only time there seems to be any variation or imagination is when you are close to and inside the enemy camps of the Lutadores. The areas become dark, dingy, and scream death and despair. The areas in the game do provide a great setting for combat. The areas are open yet provide a lot of areas for cover to advance the combat. The character models are not anything impressive and if you have played Gears of War, Duke Nukem, or Doom you have probally seen a variation of them before. The biggest surprise here is camera angles used when running in the game. The camera immediately gets low and to the shoulder of the character, just like Gears of War. It is disappointing that so much was taken from a great game and not changed upon at all.
