Fans may still like the hack and slash action and the new characters, but it's a bit more technically messy than it needed to be.
First off, the two-player co-op (one on the TV, one with the GamePad) is an ideal addition, and you can also battle against someone in versus mode, hoping to capture some cool collectible cards to add to your virtual collection. It's also interesting to see which characters would win in a fight. After all, who's stupid enough to go up against Ryu Hayabusa? Not us.
But eventually, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper just falls apart at the seams. There's nothing unique about the gameplay outside of the two-player stuff, but it's the technical aspect of it that really becomes its outdoing. This is possibly the worst looking version of the game to date, with so many problems working against it.
First off, the textures are not only blurry, but in some cases non-existent. Characters will disappear completely off the screen, even when they get in close, as the processor can only take so much at a time. Also, there is quite a bit of slowdown, even if very little is happening on-screen. And the glitches? Man, we lost count.
On the bright side, at least the producers did away with the horrendous English voice acting in favor of traditional Japanese warrior voices, which suits us just fine. But is it enough to save the technical nightmare that is the graphic engine? Nope. There's just too many problems here – not to mention the camera, which is your own worst enemy when you're getting struck from behind.
