PC and MAC users of Mojang’s Minecraft will soon be able to broadcast their games to Twitch at the click of button.
The game’s popularity has also soared on Twitch with an unwavering presence on the site’s Top 20 Games viewed each month. This has been the case since Twitch launched in 2011.
“Minecraft has struck a very powerful chord with the Twitch community,” said Matthew DiPietro, VP of Marketing, Twitch. “Its constantly escalating popularity illustrates that people love to watch video games outside of the headline grabbing eSports titles. Expect a watershed moment for both players and spectators once the ability to easily broadcast gameplay directly to Twitch goes live.”
Since launching in June of 2011, Twitch has become the primary live video platform for the entire video game industry. Video game publishers, developers, media companies, professional gamers, and individual original content creators have all embraced Twitch with the platform’s next major presence being on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Twitch is the world’s leading video platform and community for gamers. More than 45 million gamers gather every month on Twitch to broadcast, watch and chat about gaming. Twitch’s video platform is the backbone of both live and on-demand distribution for leading video game broadcasters including casual gamers, pro players, tournaments, leagues, developers and gaming media organizations.
