Scorching Hot Visuals among the QoL changes!

Philly-area indie games publisher Retroware and NYC-based studio Zenovia Interactive have released Patch #3 for their stylish cyberpunk run-’n-gun Neon Inferno, bringing a suite of visual improvements, quality-of-life features, and scoring system updates. The patch is live now on Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, with Nintendo Switch to follow in the coming days.

Patch #3 refines several of the game’s gritty, neon-saturated environments. The flooded city now features new water splash effects, the Brooklyn streets have received puddle reflections, and the NYPD Safehouse has been upgraded with added water reflections, new sound effects, and full 3D lighting and shadows in the boss room. The Pangaea Tower lobby now crackles with lightning flash effects, and elevator floor number animations add a new layer of immersion to the Pavilion Hotel.

On the gameplay side, a number of bugs have been addressed, including a fix for the “projectile dance” attack indicator during the Vs. Helena Vos fight (with a simplified version on Novice difficulty), a safe-spot fix in the Pangaea Heavy fight, and various depth-sorting corrections across weapon visuals. Vehicle scene respawn logic has also been improved to ensure players always respawn in safe positions.

The scoring system has received significant attention. A No-Item Bonus and an Arcade Mode Bonus have both been added, and players can now access the GunSlingers weapon shop in single-mission or single-scene replay modes.

A new “3-button mode” has been introduced for players using arcade sticks or classic gamepads, and a new anamorphic “stretch to display” graphics option gives players more control over how the game fits their screen.

Zenovia Interactive is already hard at work on the next update for Neon Inferno, which will introduce a new Survival Mode alongside additional features and improvements, with a target release in approximately two months.
