An exclusive interview with the creator of Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey.

What’s the basic premise of the story this time around?

This time around you’re going to play three different characters, but we’re only discussing two characters so far.  Zoey, who is a resident of a place called Uropolis, and Keon, who lives in a magical fantasy world. Their paths cross as they try to save the world.

What are your thoughts about what Tegra 4 technology opens up for game development today?

Dreamfall Chapters is a very graphically intensive game. We’re on Unity, so we’re trying to push Unity to its limits. Tegra 4 will allow us to really create beautiful scenes and characters that feel real, which will heighten the emotional sense of attachment for the players and get them more engaged. It really allows us to make the world come to life in a way that’s never before been possible.

What do you think about NVIDIA SHIELD?

NVIDIA SHIELD is a gamer’s device. It’s the first thing that really blends mobile gaming with the proper controls and I think that opens a whole new arena for gaming. The technology allows us to do games like Dreamfall Chapters and really reproduce them in a way that makes the graphics comes to life. It’s also a device that allows you at home to sit back on the couch and relax with a PC game and take it to bed even. It’s the perfect gaming device. Mobile gaming is the future and to see all of the advances being made there, which are surpassing the pace of desktop and console gaming, it’s incredible to be working in that field. We’re able to push the limits on an annual basis and really see how our games come to life in a way that’s never before been possible in mobile.

What has your relationship with NVIDIA been like?

Red Thread Games is a new studio, so our relationship with NVIDIA is just starting. But I worked with NVIDIA before and at Funcom on games like Secret World and the relationship has always been very positive. We’re hoping for a really positive working relationship going forward with Red Thread Games and Dreamfall Chapters.
