Elder Scrolls fans who yearn to rediscover the beauty of Morrowind without the archaic graphics and gameplay will be getting their wish sometime next year.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has often been lauded as one of the most atmospheric and immersive single-player RPG’s of this generation but, sadly, its graphics and gameplay systems haven’t aged so well. Fortunatly, one team of devoted fans is aiming to recreate Morrowind in all its glory using the Skyrim engine.
The project has been aptly titled “Skywind” and, according to its official description, is a “non-commercial, fan made modification for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that seeks to merge the amazing world of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind with the enhanced graphics and capabilities of Skyrim's engine."
The team behind Skywind already has some experience working within the Morrowind setting as they previously released a mod called “Morroblivion” which allowed Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion players to explore the region of Morrowind.
Skywind isn’t set to be released until sometime next year but it sounds like the wait will be well worth it since the development team is planning to incorporate brand new original music and voice-acting into the mod’s final release. Eager fans can check out Skywind’s current version 0.8 alpha build by downloading it from the link below.
