Go back in time in NHL 14 with the greatest old school hockey game of all time, NHL 94.

Something that I wasn’t happy to hear was that there will NOT be online play for the NHL 94 recreation. The main reason is because EA wanted to give the fans the same feeling they got from playing with their friends like they did as kids. One touch dekes were added and is basically the only way to avoid a big hit. Trust me, you will get leveled and probably give up a goal because of it.

The great part of NHL 94 was that it was a hockey game with no rules. You could hit who ever you wanted, skate wherever you wanted, and do whatever you wanted to do on the blue ice. Most of the old school moves still work such as the “94 move” where you cut across the netmouth for an open shot.  In addition to the classic blue ice, the organ music is back and so are the classic goal sirens that go off when a goal is scored.

I played quite a few games against one of the developers and the A.I. and it feels just like the SEGA/SNES version. I felt like I could sit there for hours and play my favorite hockey game, for the modern era. I played the game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and I felt the Xbox version was a little easier to control. I felt it was easier to move and control your skaters on the 360 version. However, I played enough times to get comfortable on both systems. It took me about 5 minutes to get used to the controls but after that, I felt like I never stopped playing the game. I played as the Canadiens and the Devils and I’m happy to say, I only lost as Montreal so I did my Devils proud. The game is so simple to pick up adults who played the original will be able to play with their children and show them a thing or two.
