Developer Insomniac Games has revealed a brand new Ratchet & Clank title which is set for a Christmas 2013 release.
After Sony sent out a few cryptic tweets via the official PlayStation Twitter account yesterday, fans were naturally very curious to find out what “When worlds collide, heroes return” meant. Turns out they didn’t have to wait long as both Sony and developer Insomniac Games have unveiled a brand new Ratchet & Clank game as the source of the tweet.
This new game, titled Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, will be a return to the series’ roots according to Insomniac. The developer understands that while past entries like All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault allowed them to experiment with new gameplay systems and setups, their reception amongst fans was a little polarizing so they’re returning to what made Ratchet & Clank so popular in the first place. Insomniac's community lead James Stevenson summed it up rather nicely on the game’s PlayStation blog showcase: "It feels like the time is right to revisit Ratchet’s personal story arc."
Insomniac has confirmed that Into the Nexus will be available this holiday season but they weren’t ready to reveal an exact date just yet. The game is currently set as a PlayStation 3 exclusive which will be available as both a retail and digital PSN title for $29.99. No word yet on whether or not the game will have PS Vita cross-play functionality like past Ratchet & Clank titles but there is always the possibility.
