My interview during E3 with my friends from Nnooo, Nick Watt and Bruce Thomson
They feel they haven’t arrived on the scene yet as a company. It could hurt the way they motivate themselves to work harder if they feel like they have arrived already. If they get featured by Sony or Nintendo at E3 someday, then they might have a different idea of their status in the business. It’s also a better business plan to not act too egotistic. That might work in the beginning but you might have trouble getting people to work with you in the long run. I feel like I have to agree with Nnooo in their idea of how to run a business.
Now that the business portion of the interview is over, now it’s time for the fun stuff, the bonus questions. The guys like Luigi because he is the black sheep of the family and he never gets the prime time spotlight, like his brother, Mario. They would really like to have the chance to create a Pokémon MMO and would like to have a go with Metroid. Nick’s top three E3 moments were: the Game Cube launch, the Wii launch, and the DS launch. The latest show was my favorite, as it was my first show! I had to ask them the origin of the company name, Nnooo. At a previous company Nick worked with, they would play games at lunch, like Mario Tennis for N64. Nick was Scottish and the other workers would mess with him and his accent. He would say things like “Nooooo” and “No way” and that eventually became his gamer tag. He then felt it would be a good name for a company and Nnooo was born.
I would like to thank Nick and Bruce for taking time out of their E3 schedule to meet with me and finally letting me put a face to the name, Nnooo. I’ll remember my first E3 official interview forever! I’m still holding out hope for that Pokémon MMO, guys. (Fingers crossed)( Bruce is the guy driving the Hover Kart from Mario Kart 8 in the picture by the way)
