In the meeting room for Namco Bandai, they were showing off some interesting games such as Tekken Revolution and Project X Zone.

The last game I really wanted to see just so I could see what in the world was going on in the game was Project X Zone, which is pronounced Project Cross Zone. Long story short, the Portal Stone has been stolen and creating time rifts throughout the universe. The missing portal stone is the reason why over 200 characters from 27 different franchises are coming together. The first two characters you come across were created just for the game but the other characters are from classic games such as Mega Man X and Dark Stalkers.

The problem I had with the game in general is that it’s very complicated. At times there is too much going on and it’s tough to know where to go next. It sounds like early on in the game the battles are much simpler than later on in the game, where there will be a lot of characters on the screen at one time. You’ll earn cross points while battling and you can do special attacks when you gain 100%. Your speed will determine the order in battle, like most RPG’s. The attacks range from normal, special, and “multiple allies” attack.

You get 3 attacks per turn and you can call for back up/allied attacks to come and help. Your battle can’t exceed 99 turns and if it does, it’s game over. The game is set to come out on June 25th and the first run of the game will have a limited edition art book and a soundtrack to go with it. The game looks like an interesting idea that hopefully isn’t too big of an undertaking to create. As long as Mega Man and the Darkstalkers characters appear early in the game, I will be able to overlook the complicated gameplay.
