In the meeting room for Namco Bandai, they were showing off some interesting games such as Tekken Revolution and Project X Zone.
I wasn’t just at Namco Bandai to see Pac Man and the Ghostly Adventures, which is shaping up nicely by the way. Anyway, there were two other games and a bonus game that I was going to see in the Namco Bandai meeting room. Tekken Revolution and Project X Zone were the games I really wanted to check out and the bonus game was Ridge Racer: Drift Tokyo was an added surprise. We have a lot to get to, so let’s jump right into Tekken.
Tekken Revolution is the first free to play fighting game for a console and it doesn’t disappoint. The developers wanted to bring the arcade feeling back to the players. What that means is that they wanted to give the players the ability to play any game at anytime, like in the arcade where you could play anything for a quarter. This is a great idea seeing as though I loved going to the arcade as a kid and being able to play some great games. The game will be available for free on the Playstation Network. The way the game is free to play is you’ll earn play coins as you play the game. The play coins regenerate after a certain amount of playing time. You might be playing for a while and not eve notice that you got a ton of play coins to continue playing with.
It was mentioned that fighting game players don’t sit for hours at a time playing and the play coin system was the perfect solution to this problem. You might not want to play for a long time or not want to risk losing all the play coins you have. The premium coin is the only monetization in the game and this play coin shows the arcade lifestyle the most. Back in the day, the good players in the arcade could play for hrs. on one quarter and this method is Tekken’s equivalent to that lifestyle.
