New info revealed about Pokémon X and Y. Mr. Ishihara and Junichi Masuda provide answers to Media questions.

Junichi Masuda was involved in a Pokémon battle between two brand new Pokémon. Clauncher, a crayfish/shellfish Pokémon took on Skrelp, a Water/Poison type seahorse Pokémon. Clauncher won the battle but the two newly discovered Pokémon show that the developers still have interesting ideas.  It was mentioned that the 3D modeling isn’t easy to do and Noivern, the bat-like Pokémon, was shown off. It was shown that they use multiple angles on the set up sheet to determine how a Pokémon should look in 3D. Noivern has a new move called Boom Burst, a normal type move.

Pokémon-Amie is a new way for trainers to bond with their Pokémon. You do things like petting your Pokémon, touch your Pokémon, and give them treats. By doing these things and more, you’ll be able to strengthen your bond with your Pokémon. They will return the favor in battle by dodging more attacks and getting more critical hits for example.

More innovations were shown off during the roundtable on Tuesday night. Horde encounters were introduced where you’ll encounter 5 Pokémon at once and the species won’t always be the same Pokémon. The encounters will be easier to deal with if your Pokémon has a move that attacks multiple Pokémon at one time. Sky Battles were also introduced as well as new flying Pokémon, Talonflame. Not all Pokémon will be allowed to participate in the Sky Battles. If your Pokémon is able to fly or has the levitate ability, they’ll be able to take part in the Sky Battles.
