Xbox Reveal didn't reveal enough for many gamers and what it did reveal didn't help Microsoft.

With the world as its stage and a lot of time to get things right after Sony’s PlayStation 4 press conference in New York City, Microsoft dropped the ball at its Redmond, Washington Xbox One Reveal. The company chose to focus on entertainment capabilities rather than exclusive games, and many gamers were frustrated and upset about this approach.

Fizziology is a game that tracks social media buzz by focusing on Twitter, Facebook and blog chatter across the country. Ben Carlson, president and co-creator of Fizziology, studied the chatter and reveals who won the early battle between Microsoft and Sony in this exclusive interview.

How did the pre-buzz for Xbox One compare to the pre-buzz for PS4?

Xbox One saw more pre-buzz social chatter than the PS4, in part because Xbox users were waiting to see what the next-gen console would be after they watched or read about the Playstation announcement.

How did the post-buzz for Xbox One compare to post-buzz for PS4?

Xbox One experienced slightly more post-reveal social conversation compared to the post-buzz for the PS4 because Microsoft gave more details and shared the look of the console, ultimately giving people more to talk about.

What did gamers think of the lack of games actually shown during the press conference for Xbox vs. PS4?

Gamers were frustrated in the social conversation by the lack of games actually shown at the reveal, especially since many hardcore gamers are loyal Xbox consumers. Twenty-two percent of the negative Xbox buzz over the past 24 hours came from those who thought Microsoft was moving away from gamers with their more entertainment-focused console. And while excitement was high for Call of Duty: Ghosts, some gamers were making fun of the video's focus on arm hair detail and dogs instead of what they consider to be more important game characteristics.
