Sony and Microsoft both held press conferences ahead of E3 to unveil their new consoles, but could it have waited?
Its official the next-gen console war has begun! Sort of. Yesterday Microsoft unveiled its addition to the next-generation of gaming the Xbox One. Like its direct competition Microsoft held its own press conference similar to that of Sony who three months earlier unveiled it’s Playstation 4 console.
I understand that Sony and Microsoft want to gain whatever lead they can by showing off what new tech they have been working on, but when pulling of a maneuver that breaks all previous cycles of console unveilings wouldn’t you want to show of all that your new system is capable of doing.
The next-gen Playstation and Xbox consoles were two of the worst kept secrets in gaming with countless amounts of leaks of information it was only a matter of time until they were shown to the world. But when they veil of secrecy was finally lifted gamers were left with more questions than answers.
I couldn’t help but feel that both the Sony and Microsoft’s presentations left gamers feeling unsatisfied by what they were shown. Pieces of vital information were missing from the presentations and in Sony’s case the console itself was missing.
