The Xbox One may be a lot friendlier than the early rumors reported, but there are still a number of items you will need for consistent use of the system.
When asked to clarify whether or not the system can play games while offline, Harrison did state that the console will necessitate an internet connection at least once every 24 hours. For gamers who cannot rely on a 24 hour internet connection, this is could be a deal breaker.
Last but not least, many gamers were curious to see how the entire next generation of consoles, not just the Xbox One, would handle the topic of used games. While these companies specialize in game making, they are businesses as well, and used games sales do hurt them. Sony has hinted that their system will not have any restrictions, but has not confirmed any policies.
Today, Microsoft told Wired that Xbox One game discs will require a mandatory installation upon insertion into the system, which would essentially tie the game to the gamer's XBLA account. Afterwards, the disc will no longer be required for playing the game. If another gamer were to use that same disc on their Xbox One, they would be required to pay a fee for the second installation, or for tying it to a second account.
This system would hamper the effectiveness of used games and rental services without completely eliminating them.
The Xbox One will come with some hoops to jump through, but it comes out a bit rosier than initially stated.
