Microsoft has officially joined Sony in the next generation race. At a special Microsoft press conference, the company announced the XBOX One.
UPDATE: Pushing the idea that this is an entertainment box first and foremost, Microsoft showcased the all new, "XBOX Snap Mode" functionality. With "Snap Mode", gamers can jump between any function the console has to offer with, by simply speaking to the system. From live TV, to the internet browser, to gaming, all you have to say is "XBOX" and what you are looking to access. Simple and sleek.
Microsoft also took the stage to announce some new entertainment properties. There was a partnership with ESPN that tied into it's fantasy suite. A partnership with NFL, to bring live broadcasts of NFL games to the system. And a new live-action Halo television series, seemingly exclusive to the XBOX. With talent like Spielberg working alongside them and with Roger Goddell in full support of the NFL partnership, they seem to have a number of fun entertainment capabilities.
They will look to release the system "later this year".
