Microsoft has officially joined Sony in the next generation race. At a special Microsoft press conference, the company announced the XBOX One.
After Sony's PS4 reveal in February earlier this year, the next generation race had officially begun and the pressure was on for Microsoft. Rumors began flying in about the the next system in the XBOX brand, including always-online technology which would necessitate an internet connection to operate the console.
Today, the rumor's end.
After Don Mattrick, the president of interactive entertainment at Microsoft, took the stage, touting that it was "time for technology to step behind the curtain and you and your entertainment to take the stage," the XBOX One title was revealed.
XBOX One is on our doorstep and so far, the system has showcased a number of tools to allow enhanced television watching experience, cloud gaming, and an overall ease of use.
Technical specs came later and they seemed similar to what Sony touted at their PS4 event.
8 Core CPU. 8 GB Ram.
500 GB HDD.
Bluray Drive.
XBOX One started its debut with little gaming showcased, which is the exact opposite of what Sony had to show at their event, and showcases where Microsoft's focus is.
