Take up arms with the Soviet Red Army as you fight on the Eastern Front of WWII in the sequel to the critically acclaimed real-time strategy series
One of the major differences to the game are the more varied terrains which include iced over lakes and large snow covered fields that can either advantage or disadvantage you in battle. The lakes can be crossed over, but one demolition charge and your whole unit is sent to a watery grave, while the deep snow covered fields slow down units and offer them no cover making it risky to cross them.
Company of Heroes 2 looks to redefine the RTS genre with many new gameplay improvements built up from their new Essence 3.0 engine such as line-of-sight technology that will help to add realistic unit visibility depending on weather conditions and the unit type. Along with this, the weather will play an important part in your road to victory as the harsh winters of Russia can go as far as to kill your unknowing units who get caught out in the cold. Realism has been a central part of the Company of Heroes franchise, and the sequel looks to improve upon that making it one of the most realistic war games I’ve ever played.
A release date has been set for North America and Europe on June 25, 2013 for Microsoft Windows PC platforms.
