4. Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (GameCube)
The original Rogue Squadron was a terrific game over on the Nintendo 64, but nothing beats Rogue Leader. Factor 5, back before they destroyed themselves with Sony's Lair, did a splendid job putting together combat missions for this one, from a battle on the Death Star to a fantastic finale against big mother warships. The controls are superb, the shoot-em-up action never gets old, and the graphics really showed just what the GameCube could do at the time. If any game got us excited for that Nintendo system – aside from Smash Bros. Melee, of course – it was this one.
