The Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale may be over, but the fun is just begining...
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale follows the Smash Bros. formula in many ways. The game is a four player free for all where the person that achieves the most kills at the end wins. Weapons appear out of mid air can shift the momentum of a match. Also, each player can store up a finisher with the potential to wipe the board of opposition. Specials come in three levels so patience will be rewarded. It is the timing and location of these specials that make the biggest impact. A well-positioned level 3 special can give the player 3 immediate kills.
The camera at its best.
Even though the game is in beta, the servers seemed to hold up well. There were no noticeable lags yet this could change once the actual game is released to the masses. The only weakness that I can see in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is the camera. While I understand the need to pull so far away from the action so you can see all characters and the dynamic environment on screen, there are times when the action becomes too chaotic and it is hard to distinguish your character from the others on screen. This is a minor gripe for a otherwise very enjoyable game.
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is in fact Smash Bros. for the PS3. While Sony does not seem to be breaking the mold with this game, it is still shaping up to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Be sure to get your copy of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale when it releases for PS3 on November 20, 2012. The game also supports cross play with the PlayStation Vita.
