The Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale may be over, but the fun is just begining...

With so many iconic characters over the PlayStation’s nearly 20 year console history, it was only a matter of time before Sony pulled some of their biggest names into one giant brawler. That game is PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. SuperBot Entertainment have brought together some of the most iconic characters every under the Sony brand and some truly impressive designers to make what should be a great game. I, along with every other PlayStation Plus user, had a chance to play the beta and here are my impressions.

The environments blend elements from Playstation's biggest games.

It will be difficult for Sony to avoid comparisons of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale to Nintendo’s Smash Bros. series.  Instead of avoiding it, Sony should accept it because those comparisons are a good thing. Smash  Bros. is a very successful series and Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale follows in the tradition.

The beta included six playable characters. The characters were Kratos, Parappa the Rapper, Fat Princess, Colonel Radec, Sweet Tooth, and Sly Cooper. SuperBot has done a great job bringing each player’s personality to the game. Each characters plays differently and has their own strengths. Parappa is fast with combos, Kratos is a heavy hitter, and Radec can snipe form long range. The game does seem imbalanced at times due to specific powers of the characters. Sly Cooper’s teleporting along with Parappa’s speedy combos became frustrating when they were repeated over and over again.
