A piece of your childhood will return this summer with Ducktales Remastered. Time to take a look back at the original.

Back when the game came out years ago, it was a simpler time, a time where you could come home from school and sit on the couch and watch cartoons. You can still come home and watch cartoons but the idea of good cartoons has hit a roadblock if you will. In the good old days, Saturday morning cartoons were old hat for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Talespin, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers were just some of the great games spawned from Saturday morning TV. The game was trying to build off of what the show had started, a property that kids would like and would want to buy a game starring the property.

Disney hit it right with Ducktales and it was so successful it had a movie and multiple video games.  The Story is pretty straight forward for the game; Scrooge McDuck is trying to become the richest duck in the world. That’s all that’s needed to set the stage for one of the best games on the system.. The game had everything that made the TV show great. It had Huey, Dewey and Louie, Uncle Scrooge’s nephews, as well as Mrs. Beakly and Webbigail.

The game also had Magical De Spell and Flintheart Glomgold as bosses to fight. It also had the iconic Beagle Boys to deal with on your mission to save Scrooge’s family and strike it rich. It also has everyone’s favorite, Launchpad Mcquack, who would later join Darkwing Duck, and Gizmoduck to help Scrooge fulfill his dream of becoming the richest duck in the world. The game even had Bubba, the prehistoric cave-duck from the later years of the series/movie but luckily he wasn’t in the game too much.

The games of the past didn’t teach you everything before you started playing. You just had to learn as you go. Ducktales is a prime example of this. I can remember playing it and going into the Mine level and not being able to go any further because I didn’t have the key from Transylvania. Similar to Mega Man games, you pretty much teach yourself the best way to go and who the easiest bosses are and fight them first.
