Gotta Have Rhythm!
It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at SURI: The Seventh Note on Steam.
Long story short, you play as Ajira on a quest to save her mother from a deadly illness. You're on a quest to find fruit that is said to be the cure. That being said, you need to use the power of rhythm to make your way through locations, collecting the Ghungroo, the spheres strewn about. You'll have to master the rhythm to make the island work for you. There are platforms that will disappear if you don't time the rhythm so be careful. You'll also be able to get ahold of a second jump/hover combo but again, you'll only be able to utilize it on the rhythm.
The cutscenes in SURI are very well done and have had a lot of time put into them. I'm not the biggest fan of rhythm platformers. There are parts where you are being chased and don't have to worry about the rhythm Those parts remind me of Rayman Legends and it would have been nice if more of the game was like that. The controls aren't as tight as they need to be either, but I digress.
Make sure you check out the hands-on video below!
