Time to get physical

Following their pre-order period at Forever Physical Publisher Limited Run Games,  Philly-based indie publisher and developer Retroware is thrilled to announce that physical Switch and PS5 physical editions of Neon Inferno and The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit are now available to purchase directly from the Retroware shop. Both titles are available for $39.99 and feature reversible covers and manuals.

Developed by Zenovia Interactive and initially released digitally on Steam and all modern platforms on November 20, 2025, Neon Inferno is a hybrid side-scrolling run-’n-gun and gallery-shooter where the action takes place in both the foreground and the background. As warring factions battle for control of a dystopian New York City, you enter the fray as an assassin for the Family; a notorious crime syndicate determined to eliminate its rivals and dominate the metropolitan battlefield. Rendered in beautiful pixel art and backed by an evocative soundtrack that brings the on-screen chaos to life, Neon Inferno delivers a stylish, modern 2D action experience with cyberpunk flair.

Here's what critics are saying about Neon Inferno:

"A fantastic run 'n' gun shooter that's dripping with style and gritty edge." 8/10 – Forbes

"Neon Inferno is all the good things about '90s video games rolled into one epic 2D action adventure." 8.5/10 – Noisy Pixel

"The talent on display is immense." – Digital Foundry

Key Features:

  • Shoot close, aim far: A dynamic blend of side-scroller and gallery-shooter, where the action takes place in both foreground and background (like playing Contra and Wild Guns at the same time).

  • Glorious 32-bit style: A sci-fi cityscape rendered in beautiful pixel art and backed by an evocative soundtrack.

  • Two-Player Co-op: With danger lurking around every street corner, wouldn't you be better off with a friend?

  • Satisfying Arcade Challenge: Enjoy a playthrough on an easier mode…or put your skills and resilience to the test with 1-credit-clear arcade mode.
