Now on Steam!

Creative-first publisher Mega Cat Studios and retro-focused Argentinian indie studio Bits Rule Games are excited to announce that the demo for their upcoming side-scrolling platformer, Phantom Gear, is now available to download on Steam.

This demo gives players the chance to experience the game’s first three stages, each featuring its own unique gameplay styles, ahead of its full release later this year. Suit up as Josephine and face off against the malevolent Ocular Force while experiencing Phantom Gear’s snappy mix of action and platforming. Soak up vibrant visuals that bring the world to life, and bob your head to an infectious chiptune score that fits every moment like a slick suit of power armor.

"We know it’s been a long wait, and we’re truly grateful to everyone who has stayed with us through this journey," said Marcos Rebollo, Game Designer at Bits Rule. "Getting the Phantom Gear demo into players’ hands means a lot to our team, and we’re excited to finally share what we’ve been building with players."

About Phantom Gear:

In an expedition to the ruins of a forgotten civilization, Dr. Valentine and Engineer Agnis discover an ancient artifact that contains an immense source of energy. Thanks to this discovery, Valentine and Agnis used the artifact to create new technologies to improve humanity.

But a Phantom from the past awakened and began to spread chaos across the world. From this disorder came a faction that wanted to weaponize the Artifact—the Ocular Force!

In one of their attacks on the laboratory of Valentine and Agnis, the Ocular Force succeeds in stealing a small piece of the artifact. Unfortunately, in that attack Agnis also lost her life, leaving her daughter Josephine alone in the world.

Valentine decided to adopt the daughter of her friend and complete the work of Agnis—a set of combat armor for Josephine, so she could defend herself and the future.

Phantom Gear Key Features:

  • Purchase permanent upgrades to help level the playing field against a ferocious foe

  • Expand your arsenal with multiple weapons to master

  • Test your skills with tight, pixel-perfect platforming
