Check out a new Chichuki Views with Mists of Noyah.
It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Views, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. Today, we're checking out Mists of Noyah on Nintendo Switch.
Mists of Noyah is a survival game that reminds me a lot of Terraria in terms of survival and exploration. You play as one of five characters that each have their different playstyles. You'll be able to name your character as well as the world they inhabit. As you make your way through the world, you will have to collect resources along the way like cutting down trees for wood or crushing rocks for stone. There is a pretty cool wall jump ability that feels a lot like Mega Man X wall jump/slide. You'll also be able to find health upgrades in the wild and you will need it because the world is not a safe place. You will have to be on guard from all the monsters.
During gameplay, you'll be able to complete tasks and gain rewards to help you during your journey. There were times in the menu when it was very tough to see what my icon was actually selecting. I found myself crafting the wrong item or too many of a certain item because it doesn't notify the player when an item was crafted. A nice touch is having the quest log on screen so you don't have to look them up everytime. There were also moments when it felt like the jump wasn't doing what it was supposed to do and I would get stuck on a ladder for example.
Be sure you know where the town is because you will need to know where the best shops and crafting locations are. You will go out and explore by day and fight at night. Gather your resources and craft all kinds of cool stuff and then defend the area and townsfolk. Another reason why you will want to know where the towns are is that the game doesn't pause in menus. You might be looking at the menu and a giant bug will attack so get back to town if that happens. I will also say that a tutorial mode would have helped so much to teach players how to craft or at the very least, how to actually control your tools.
