Eat or be eaten, with dinosaurs!
I believe it was a few years ago at Pax East when I first heard about the game, Evolution. It was both a card game and a PC/Tablet turn based game where you strove to be the king of the food chain and predominant species. It was a small, up and coming game at the time but North Star Games knew what they had at the time. Fast-forward to 2019 and the game is making the jump to, you guessed it, the Nintendo Switch. You'll be able to play "Survival of the fittest" on the go or at home!
The game has an intuitive tutorial system that you can learn from or you can jump right into the game and be taught the harsh realities of life, similarly to the animals/dinosaurs your trying to develop. Developing skills can be as simple as horns from an enemy animal or someone eating all of your food. You'll have to use your mind to keep your species alive! Special traits certain creatures have will help with that but some of those traits could hinder things as well so pay attention. Evolution is also offering "pass and play multiplayer" where a group of people can play on the same team and try to survive as well as online mode where you play against people from all over the world.( Sounds like evolution to me!)
“We love the Nintendo Switch’s capabilities for digital board games like Evolution,” said Scott Rencher, president and co-founder of North Star Digital Studios. “The speed of controller-based play is a great game experience, and the pass-and-play nature of the console offers that warm sense of community we love fostering with the board game.”
Evolution is slated to Evolve( I sure that will be the last Evolution mention) on the Switch in early 2020 but is available now in English on PC and Mac via Steam for $9 until September 20th. It is also available as free-to-try on iOS and Android with a full version available for $6 as a one time purchase.
