Let's see what Xseed games brought to California with them for E3!
Next up on the 2019 E3 reality tour was a stop at the Xseed booth, where they always show off some interesting properties. This time around there were quite a few games brought to the convention center, each one with its unique style so without further delay, lets get right into it!
First up was the next installment in the Senran Kagura franchise and this time; pinball was the style of play. Now I know what you’re thinking, how can this series have a pinball game well Senran Kagura: Peach Ball works as a pinball style game. Long story short, you work alongside Haruka as she tries to help cure her fellow shinobi as they’re being turned into animals. You’ll be able to use the “Peach Ball” as a pinball to rack up the most points and score bonus points to cure your friends. There are special modes in the game to make it feel like a true Senran Kagura game such as the Diorama mode and others but you’ll have to find those out on your own. The Switch mobile mode makes it feel like your playing a real pinball machine and the flippers feel really responsive in tune with the Switch shoulder buttons.
Next up was Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin where you play the role of Sakuna, a harvest goddess who has been sent to an island full of outcast humans. The island is dangerous and the way she can help out is by fighting the demons that inhabit the island. There are two styles of play in this game, the ability to farm and help out in the village and the side-scrolling portion of the game where you fight demons and boss monsters with combos and special attacks. The combo attacks are simple at times and then you have complex attacks that allow you to climb walls or spin monsters to get them disoriented. You will have to use everything you have in your arsenal if you want to defeat all the demons.
Two more games to talk about from the Xseed games booth are up next, Heroland and Burgertime Party. Burgertime Party pays homage to the classic old-school version of Burger Time. There are new modes and co-op to think about while you guide Chef Peter Pepper around the food trying to get him! There are 100+levels that you’ll have to traverse! During multiplayer you’ll be able to play either as the Chef or the food so you’ll be able to be the good guys or the bad guys. Come up with good strategies for both teams, as there are different styles of play for both sides!
Lastly, Heroland is a role playing game with a twist and the twist is you play the guide in this story. You’re hired from a temp agency to work at Heroland as the party guide to make sure said party has a good time and makes it through their quest with flying colors. You will have to advise each party member on what to do and heal them when needed. You could also let things play out and see what happens but if party members faint, you won’t get paid as much for the quest as being a guide is your job after all. Everyone who works in the park is your co-worker so the monsters you see in the caves are co-workers, the boss monsters are co-workers and that’s part of the fun. During the tutorial, you’ll be having conversations with these co-workers and the writing is pretty funny! You’ll also be able to outfit your party with better weapons and attacks so make sure you give the best chance to succeed as your work-life depends on it!
Xseed has a vast lineup coming this year and fans of the company will not want to miss any of these properties!
