See what Phoenix Labs has in store.

I was able to go hands on at the Phoenix Labs booth with Dauntless and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a free-to-play Action role playing game with co-op elements where players can build gear and team up to fight giant monsters. You’ll be able to become a legend on the Shattered Isles so make sure you practice your fighting skills!

One of the main appealing points of Dauntless is that it’s a free-to-play co-op game. You’ll be able to team up with people from all over to take down all kinds of crazy behemoths. You’ll also be able to craft all kinds of weapons to use in combat and you’ll need to be on your game as the monsters are pretty strong.

The multiplayer combat reminds me of the Monster Hunter franchise since players are much smaller in terms of size compared to the monster and will need to use teamwork to defeat the enemy. As with other MMORPG games, you’ll have to decide on the fly what roles you will have in your team. Who will be the healer, who will be the defender, who will be the attacker and so on. There will be plenty of weapons to choose from as well so if you feel comfortable with one, use that for a while and see what happens. If you like a sword, use a sword, if you like a hammer, use a hammer.

It’s all about getting the most damage on the enemy, which you will have to locate in the area before you can start wailing on it. You can send out flairs to your party when you find the enemy to let them know of the monster location as well as use healing items for the group. It’s best to try and conserve your items for dire situations because the monsters are strong and you will take damage. On the plus side, your allies can revive you but that takes a little time and you might be right on top of the monster.

You’ll team up with up to three slayers to fight the behemoths and as I mentioned earlier, you’ll need to be on your game so you achieve your goal. When you do defeat the behemoth, you’ll be able to pillage the remains and use them to build things like armor or better weapons so the way to upgrade is to quest and by quest I mean destroy behemoths!

Free-To-Play is a major selling point for Dauntless and the game is pretty good too. You’ll be able to team up with your friends or random people to take down behemoths and use their remains to better your equipment. Multiplayer co-op fans will want to give Dauntless a shot!
