Hollywood and game developers converged in New York City to celebrate a new game aimed at bringing about change in the world.
“This is perhaps the most ambitious social impact game ever,” said Sheryl WuDunn after being introduced by Wilde. “It could potentially reach millions of more people.” "It's so important not to just preach to the choir, but to build that choir, and that's how you make a difference," said Nicholas Kristof.
America Ferrera, another key supporter of the Half the Sky Movement, was one of the last guests to leave the event, spending as much time as she could playing the game with Nicholas and Sheryl. Ferrera was also featured in the Half the Sky PBS broadcast; she traveled to India with Nicholas Kristof to visit Urmi Basu and the New Light shelter.
Also in attendance were: Diana Taylor; actress Monique Coleman (High School Musical); Rachel Lloyd, Founder and CEO of GEMS; Ken Weber, Executive Director, Zynga.org; and Kathy Calvin, President and CEO of United Nations Foundation; amongst others.
