Hollywood and game developers converged in New York City to celebrate a new game aimed at bringing about change in the world.

Actresses Olivia Wilde and America Ferrera celebrated the launch of Half the Sky Movement: The Game at No.8 in NYC alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and Half the Sky Movement creators Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn and Games for Change Co-Presidents Michelle Byrd and Asi Burak.

Wilde gave opening remarks, introducing Kristof and WuDunn, and shared how she became inspired to join Kristof and WuDunn in empowering women and girls after reading their #1 New York Times’ best-selling book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.

“I can’t wait to welcome in the next generation of supporters through this Facebook game from Games for Change,” said Wilde as she expressed her support for the new game, saying it only made sense that the next platform for the movement was to have a game on Facebook as it allows people to become involved in a compelling way. For the Half the Sky PBS broadcast, which debuted in 2012, Wilde traveled to Kenya with Nicholas Kristof to visit the Umoja Women's Village.
