Cosplayers, gamers and anime lovers, your place is here.
There are many events based around popular communities. The Penny Arcade Expo, for instance, is so huge, it's practically a sell-out in both its Prime and East forms in Seattle and Boston, respectively. But smaller shows have their certain sense of charm as well, with people walking around in cosplay costumes, whether it's as a Creeper from Minecraft or their favorite anime characters. And this is something we've come to expect from Animeland Wasabi, a show that has become a popular little niche here in Colorado.
C3 and the SuperCon 2K Series, headed up by the Colorado Cutthroat Connection, are returning with the event once again, which will be held from March 1-3 at the Doubletree Hotel on 3203 Quebec Street. Like last year, the event will be a draw for several voice actors from the anime community, as well as privy DJ's hosting mini-concerts, cosplayers encouraged to take part in costume contests, an anime carnival where players can try their luck with popular mini-games (like shooting darts at targets), and, of course, video games – CCC is involved, after all.
But Animeland Wasabi isn't just a quickly put-together show to celebrate everyone's collective geekiness. Here, you can learn a thing or two, attending panels where anime actors tell you about the tools of the trade; buying clothes that can help you celebrate your love for everything from the classic video game realm to Sailor Moon; and even video game workshops, where you can learn how to be an ultimate fighter in such games as Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Considering Colorado doesn't get any kind of PAX-related event (yet – you never know when PAX Midwest will become a thing), this is certainly something to celebrate.
