The former soap opera star, actor Kamar de los Reyes, is the central character in Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II. He plays villain Raul Menendez, who was created by Hollywood writer David S. Goyer.

Are you good at Call of Duty?  You mentioned your son. Do you play with him at all?

Yeah, but he kicks my butt. I play, but these guys are serious man. There are some guys out there that are no joke, my son being one of them. He loves to snipe and he’s really good at it. And he learned these maps so quickly. I think that’s the key, but the fun part about this game is that you’re going to be able to choose the outcome and there are so many different endings depending on what you do. That, in itself, is the first of its kind for this franchise.

Did you play a lot of video games growing up?

I did. Growing upI played everything from Space Invaders to Asteroids and Pacman and those kind of video games. And then for a while I got into the Madden games. I was a football guy and I also played some MLB, and then I got away from them. I’m one of these guys who enjoys playing them, but if it were up to me I’d be playing 12 a day. But I have other responsibilities. My wife wouldn’t be too happy about me spending 12 hours a day playing a video game.

What are your thoughts on what they can do with games technology today?

It’s incredible how they’re bringing these things to life. I couldn’t believe that my performance actually translated. I just couldn’t believe it. When I saw myself in that video game, it’s me. It’s everything I did on that floor and I was really amazed. At first I was fearful that it wasn’t going to be captured, that there was going to be a limit. But really, there’s not. It’s incredible.

What is it like seeing yourself and hearing yourself in a videogame?

The other day I saw a lot of it for the first time and I was stunned. I was just rendered speechless. I don’t know how to describe it. These guys at Treyarch are incredible. The jobs they do, the technical work that is put into this game by hundreds of people, I was just blown away. I was speechless. It looks amazing.
