DotEmu, the developer and publisher specializing in revitalizing beloved retro games through modernized releases, today announced that the retro disc-throwing cult hit remake, Windjammers, will open its retro stadium to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita players on August 29th. Initially celebrated in arcades and on NEOGEO consoles, Windjammers is a simple-to-play, difficult-to-master mix of sports and fighting game mechanics where players defend their goal zones as they fling a disc around their opponent to score points.
Following Windjammers’ immensely popular closed beta, for which more than 40,000 keys were distributed worldwide so fans could test the GGPO netcode, DotEmu has beat the summer heat by staying indoors to update the game and implement general feedback from the beta. From working with Windjammers France’s community throughout general development to establishing plans to update Windjammers after launch, DotEmu has kept the community as involved as possible to provide a more accessible esports platform for the cult classic’s community.
