A few Games set to come out this year that makes me glad the Mayans were wrong about the end of the world

The Last of Us PS3

Its ok bro, you have a gas mask

I don’t know about you, but I seem to have a bit of a soft spot for post-apocalyptic games. Be it by a zombie invasion or other means, the setting makes me smitten. The game first caught my eye after E3 2012. It looked stunning with a great premise, engrossing characterisation, interesting and realistic AI, I could go on for a while. What’s more the young lady you have to protect looks a lot like Ellen Page from Juno. Good stuff Naughty Dog.

So what’s the explanation for the dooms-day setting? Well it’s quite cool actually. The game picks up 20 years after a fungus was set loose on the world killing people and reanimating their corpses. Mother nature you be cray cray.  You play as Joel a black market dealer within one of the quarantine zones in the US selling weapons and drugs. The Ellen Page look alike is called Ellie. Joel makes a promise to a lifelong friend to look after Ellie. You escape the quarantine zone but are on the run from the military.

You, a young girl, infected, military, gangs of scavengers. Doesn’t really seem fair. This title is going to be on my wish list for many reasons. Every trailer that comes out gives me tingles of gamer joy.
