Disney recently revealed more information for their project to compete with the Skylanders franchise that has done so well for Activision. Disney Infinity, a never ending list of who’s who in the Disney realm in toy form, is what Disney is hoping for the same success Activision is getting. There wasn’t much making the rounds on the internet about the project since the initial details pertaining to the playsets from The Incredibles, Monsters University, and Pirates of the Caribean were announced.

That last statement was true until this week when Disney announced details regarding the next playset for the game. This playset will take place in the Cars universe and have characters from the successful Cars franchise. Lightning McQueen and Mater are among the characters available from the Cars series thus far. More could be on the way. The playset will also give the players access to objects not normally available to them and useful in Toy Box mode where the players can do basically whatever they want. Release a Buzz Lightyear and Perry the Platypus at some point, I’m sold and many more people would be to. It will be interesting to see what direction this franchise takes and how they will compete with the Skylanders franchise in the future?
