Our preview of Sim City by Maxis Studio.

FRINGE MEETS SIM CITY

Maxis games have all had a flair for having unique music. Many times when I would be playing The Sims, and would always take a step back and just listen to the jazzy piano in the background playing. This iteration is no different, and is a delight to listen too. Chris Tilton, the composer from the FOX TV show Fringe is scoring the game, and his music leaves a lasting mark.

The way the music is integrated is fascinating. Whenever you’re looking over your city from above your going to hearing the full theme being played. Now when you want to zoom in, you will hear only the instrumental version. This keeps things fresh to a point. Dearing my time Tilton music was always uplifting, so much in fact that became a distraction. My biggest complaint that I had about the music is that heard the same theme over and over again, and was hoping there were other musical themes in the game. I was playing an early build of the game, so things could change before the game ships.
