Virtual trophies have been added to the franchise
With the BCS changing to a four-team playoff system after the 2013 season, more changes are in store for this college football franchise. But taking a look back through history, the below key feature rollouts show the evolution of NCAA Football over the years:
Bill Walsh College Football (1993): Bill Walsh College Football was introduced on the Sega Genesis console.
Bill Walsh College Football 95 (1994): Featured 36 D-1A teams with customizable seasons from 1 – 16 weeks with complete stat tracking throughout the season.
College Football USA 96 (1995): The Fiesta, Orange, Sugar and Rose bowls made their first licensed appearances.
College Football USA 97 (1996): Introduced “create player” feature for all 111 D-1A teams with authentic team playbooks. The USA TODAY/CNN Coaches’ Poll as well as the Sears National Championship Trophy debuted in 97.
NCAA Football 98 (1997): The franchise makes its debut on the Sony PlayStation. Dynasty mode is implemented.
NCAA Football 99 (1998): Created players in NCAA are now able to be imported into the latest Madden NFL games.
