What makes WWE 2K14 so legendary? Find out in our review!
The Streak
Since his first appearance at WrestleMania, the Undertaker has defeated every opponent that has stepped into his yard at the sacred event. WrestleMania serves as Undertaker’s holy grail, with every victory moving him closer to immortality. WWE 2K14 recreates this feeling in a competition mode that see you taking on the Streak and the WWE Universe.
The Streak has two different modes. The first is Defeat The Streak. In this mode you can choose any WWE Superstar or Legend in the game and attempt to take out the Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. This is no easy feat as he is endowed with all of his supernatural abilities. Undertaker is super difficult to beat. The extra difficulty setting works and it is even more amazing when you actually beat him.
A truly legendary moment.
The second mode is a gauntlet match where Undertaker must defend his streak at WrestleMania 30 against every WWE Superstar and Legend in the game. The damage Undertaker takes carries over but you regain health after defeating the first 10 opponents. After that, you regain health after every 5 victims. It would have been great if we could use the same powers Undertaker uses in Defeat the Streak, but the mode is still enjoyable.
After every mode, you are awarded points. The points are based on showmanship and excitement. While your score can be uploaded after the Defend The Streak mode, your score from Defeat The Streak can only be uploaded if you defeat the Undertaker.
Austin takes his feud with The Rock to a new level.
WWE 2K14 is a truly amazing wrestling game. The game has improved presentation, gameplay, and graphics. The 30 Years of WrestleMania mode is a great nod to history and a gateway that should connect both older and younger fans in the WWE Universe. With the improvements to Universe Mode (Rivalry Manager allows you to create ongoing rivalries), the Creation Suite (now featuring 100 slots for created wrestlers), and The Streak this is a game that will be replayed for months to come. As the tag line says, this game is truly immortal.
