Want to learn the basics of guitar? There's no better place to turn.
All this makes Rocksmith 2014 sound like an excellent rock machine, but there are a couple of hitches. First off, there's no playback or record system set up, so you can't quite check on your progress unless you're doing it in real time. This feels like a mild setback, as it would've been an ideal community feature to share riffs that you put together.
Also, even with all the power of an HDMI cable, latency is a slight problem. The feedback between when you strum on a guitar and when the note sounds off in the game is a bit longer than expected, which might throw you off. Ubisoft has recommended separating the audio and video feeds for the game, connecting to a sound system or speakers to get the best effect. It works just fine, but it requires additional cable hook-ups to execute. Still, it's worth the trouble, especially when you're rocking like mad to Aerosmith and Joe Satriani. Yep, Satch made the trip.
In spite of these issues, Rocksmith 2014 is as good a rock simulator as you'll get these days. Even if you have to buy the large guitar bundle, it's worth the cost, especially if you desire learning more about the instrument and want to have fun doing it. This rock show continues on without a hitch.
Now…how about a drum simulation game…?
