This innovative platformer won't string you along.

Sony hasn't been afraid to innovate with this current generation of gaming. It almost seems like its studios come up with something new, no matter what kind of audience it's for. LittleBigPlanet woke up a new generation of platforming fans by letting them create their own world; The Last of Us introduced a harrowing world of chaos that we couldn't help but experience; and Journey, along with thatgamecompany's other triumphs, proved that original gameplay concepts could still work.

Now we have Puppeteer, a spirited platformer from the team at Sony Japan Studio that innovates once again, not only with some inspired gameplay, but with one of the best presentations you'll find in a game this year. The team took its time to make sure the U.S. translation was done right, and that the gameplay found that proper balance to attract fans of the genre, while bringing a new audience into the fold. It just works well all around.

The game puts you in control of Kutaro, a young man whose soul is trapped in a puppet thanks to a vile enemy known as the Moon Bear King. He can't help but usurp control for himself, with the help of his loyal talking tiger. After trapping you, he captures the moon's rightful ruler, the Moon Goddess, and shatters the Moonstone, the one thing capable of stopping him. However, thanks to some helpful assistants and a pair of scissors, Kutaro finds an unlikely way to fight back, cutting his way through a dangerous world in the hopes of restoring the Moonstone and returning to his human body.
