Volition fills this highly anticipated sequel with super powers, missions, laughs and plenty of fun.
Saints Row IV has terrific gameplay throughout, thanks to its open-world set0up and the ease of executing your abilities. Some run into a few bugs – like the escape from Zinyak's ship, for example, where one little run-in puts an end to your ride, even if it's a scratch on the side of a wall. It's not enough to discourage you from playing, though. Not in the least.
Where Saints Row IV differs from other games is its sense of humor. This game makes fun of everything, from old-school text games – a boss fight surrounds this – to making fun of The Matrix and poking fun at the 50's with an interestingly designed stage. If you always wanted to let this era have it with a rocket launcher, you're in for a treat.
Customization continues to play a key point in Saints Row IV, but I have to give credit where credit is due to Volition for making Nolan North a selectable voice option. He adds a lot of character to the game, along with the other voice actors, and his joke regarding Wolverine is priceless. Plus it's interesting having a female Saint run around with nipple stickers, furry pants and Nolan's voice. Probably the last thing he expected to portray in a video game, though I'm sure he's laughing at the ideas.
