Hoppetee’s presentation elicits an immediate “awwww” factor to anyone who sees it. Hoppetee himself is bright and familiar. He could easily find a home as animated character on the silver screen. As cute as Hoppetee is, the environment around him truly immerses you in his world. The bright colors of the environment are remarkable. The rich textures create an environment that is lush and fun to play in. Even when the game switched to night, the fireflies you collect along the way light the way in a way that erupts nostalgia. It instantly takes you back to catch fireflies in the back yard in the summer. Don’t get us wrong, Hoppetee is not pushing mobile gaming on the Endless Runner to new levels, but the game just makes us happy while playing it and everyone should experience it.
The fireflies light the way at night
At this point, it may seem that we could not find a problem with Hoppetee, but you would be wrong. The gameplay in Hoppetee is fun, but not challenging. Other Endless Runners through waves at challenges at you while playing to attempt to halt your momentum. Hoppetee is different. Hoppetee must collect musical notes to enhance his experience and use fireflies to light the way at night. While there is strategy involved when it comes to timing your jumps to cover the most ground, this may not be enough for most gamers and the cute factor may run out quick. Still, there are achievements in place that you can earn which should appeal to at least the average gamer.
The environments are amazing.
Hoppetee is a game that oozes adorable and cute. The story of a grasshopper that is unable to hop discovering the world is charming and endearing. The graphics are beautiful and the music completes the experience. While the gameplay may not be challenging to most gamers, it is not suppose to be. Hoppetee’s journey of discovery is worth the download.
