While hardly an ideal Marvel effort, the Merc with a Mouth makes a rather fun – if juvenile – game debut.
Where the game truly excels is in its voicework. The other characters aren't bad (Cable is a bit funny with a straightforward "serious" voice), but this is Nolan North's show. He does some of his best stuff to date as the smarmy assassin, as well as the two voices in his head. You'll be cracking up so much from his commentary that you might lose focus on the game – thank goodness for the pause button, right? The music is good as well (love that Cable theme song) and the sound effects are sufficient, with lots of gun and sword noises.
That about covers it. Even with its lack of replay value, its wonky camera and its slightly loose evade techniques, Deadpool is a fun effort that breaks away from the normal Marvel regime. If you're a fan, it's a must. But even if you're not, it's still worth checking out, if only to hear North give Deadpool some of the best conversations ever. With himself.
Well, who else is he gonna talk to? The cast of X-Men Destiny?!
