It has its hitches, but if you love a good action or tower defense game, this one's for you.
CastleStorm features colorful graphics, and a number of levels in which to test your battle skills. The animations are smooth and, in some cases, quite delightful, and the game also supports stereoscopic 3D – though the effect can be less than effective when you're zoomed all the way out. The audio consists of some hilarious little tidbits, as well as battle music that, while enjoyable, repeats a bit more often than necessary.
Not everything in CastleStorm is perfect – the ballista could've used more accuracy and ammo, and we could've done without some specific "single resource" missions – but, damn, is it fun. And it shows that Zen Studios has a lot more going for it than something attached to a pair of flippers. More, please. (Oh, and more pinball as well. We're not picky.)
