Does BioShock Infinite rise to greatness or initiate the Rapture? Find out in our review!

Columbia at first glance is a brightly conceived world built on the pillars of religion, history, and science. Exploring its world and interacting with its inhabitants is a true delight. Columbia is a fully realized, living, breathing metropolis that invites the player in to explore every crevice it has to offer. Once you begin exploring, you begin to uncover the truth about the world that lies slightly above the heavens. Columbia is a beautiful world, but the graphics of the city are not impressive.

While the appearances of enemies and allies, both in and out of combat, are exceptional, the details of Columbia are not smoothed out. Textures seem rough and unfinished. From a distance Columbia looks great but once you get in close, its secrets are truly revealed. Although this is a minor gripe since the story is so powerful.

Enemies like the Fireman and Handyman are very detailed.

In BioShock Infinite, players take control of Booker Dewitt. A man with a shady past and an unreachable debt. Dewitt is tasked with the mission of retrieving and delivering a girl, Elizabeth, in exchange for wiping away is debt. Booker must contend with the followers of the Founders led by Comstock and the Vox Populi whom are seeking to free the people from Comstock’s control. Booker’s ascent into Columbia is the true beginning of Columbia’s decent into destruction.

Booker’s finds Elizabeth held in Monument Tower who is being protected by the watchful eye of the Songbird. Soon after meeting Elizabeth, he realizes that she can create tears in the universe and bring objects or herself through to the other side. This ability eventually allows her to enter alternate universes, which I felt was a little to sci-fi. The story is catapulted forward as both Booker and Elizabeth find out more about their own pasts and how they are connected.

You normally expect a twist in BioShock games, and while you can see the first one coming, there is another that will cause your jaw to drop in amazement and will inspire you to play through the game again in an attempt to experience that moment again.

Elizabeth is the perfect game companion. She will provide ammo, supplies, and even money.
